Orthognathic Surgery
In some cases, braces or clear aligners aren't enough to correct bite misalignment or facial disharmony. Dr. Yue works closely with expert surgeons to plan and perform orthognathic surgery for optimal results. This combined approach not only improves bite function and jaw alignment but can also enhance facial balance and overall appearance.
Modifying Jaws
Corrective jaw surgery addresses abnormalities of the facial bones — particularly the jaws and teeth — that can affect chewing, speaking, sleeping, and other daily activities. Dr. Yue will work with maxillofacial surgeon in conjunction with orthodontic treatment to improve the overall appearance of the facial profile.
Herbst Appliance
The Herbst appliance helps the lower jaw grow forward to better match the upper jaw, improving bite alignment and facial balance. It’s fixed to the back molars on both the upper and lower jaws with bonded bands, so it stays in place throughout treatment. Patients using the Herbst Appliance do not have any problems learning to chew their food with their lower jaw in this new position.
MARA Appliance
The MARA appliance helps correct overbites by guiding the lower jaw forward into a better position. It’s securely attached to the teeth and works by moving the lower teeth slightly forward while holding the upper teeth back.
